Giuseppe La Parola

Giuseppe La Parola, born in 1945, is a self-taught artist. He attended open classes at the Academy of Fine Arts in his hometown Palermo, where he studied techniques of painting and copper engraving. His settings and figures are usually placed into a typical and traditional Sicilian context. The employment of rich color and a generous flow of brush, paired with his characteristic humour, give his works rare freshness and vivacity. Merging the naive with the fantastic within his elegant figurative style, his works exhaust a very genuine air, captivating the lovable essence of cultural origins without sentimentality, but with irony and humour. He has shown his paintings in Italy and the USA. Momentarily, he lives and works in Palermo.
