“I draw inspiration from dreams in order to represent daily life scenes.” Mauro Molle was born in Rome in 1977. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2001 and then attended a course at the Mint. Despite his relatively young age, Mauro has been exhibited in an interesting and lengthy list of collective and personal exhibitions, primarily in the heart of the Roman artistic scene and in some of the most famous galleries of the capital.
In his latest artwork Mauro prefers the female figure. As an answer to the discomfort provoked by the media, fashion, and advertising that promotes a slick, brash and gaunt beauty, he tries to restore dignity to the woman.
Quiet creatures in natural poses, with melancholic faces but intense expressions, emerge out of the oil-canvasses where they are dropped into dream-like scenery.
Reality and dream collide, creating different balances, where colour dominates without exceeding, and gentle lines surround state-abandoned girls, dipping into their thoughts. |
