Ewa Chacianowska |
Ewa Chacianowska was born in Bialystok, Poland. In September 1982.she started learning at the Fine Arts High School in Suprasl (now named after Artur Grottger) in the weaving class. She left high school in 1987 with the title of “ fine arts technician”,specializing in artistic weaving. At that time, she set up an artistic group called “New Icon” (later “Nowa Ikona”) with her future husband Mariusz Chacianowski and the painter and theatrical actor Jerzy Lazewsky. They come from a city of borderland and a place of connection of cultures - the eastern one (orthodox and Russian) and the western one - catholic, Lithuanian and Polish, a place where the scarce relictsbeing the evidence of the once much influential on the area culture of Polish Jews are maintained. In this crucible of traditions they were growing and artistically developing. In July 1991 she moved from Poland to Rome with her husband for deepening art studies. In 1995 she graduates with full marks as graphic designer In Rome. Ewa Chacianowska’s paintings depict her fascination of human person undergoing an expressionist simplification, especially made of heads enlarged to monumental sizes and slight figures, once again inspired by the Ikon concept. In 2oo8 she moved from Rome to Milan, where now she is living and painting. |
